The most honest soul that I’d ever seen.
I begged my folks, "Let me cross that deep blue sea,"
But the clock had already run out on me.

By high school, I was already a "Shepherd Boy,"
A label the world used to break my joy.
I’d lost what they call "trust" before I even began,
Standing all alone, a boy forced into a man.
Nobody believed a word that I had to say,
So I learned to watch the wolves while the world looked away.

I kept my life, and I kept what’s mine.
